8:30am-11:30pm. Village Hall, 3388 Mountain View Blvd. Sign in at 8:30, coffee and donuts while you pick up your supplies and are assigned a space to clean. Free thank you lunch will be served afterward at the Village Hall. 

 

Saturday May 13, 2017- Children's Fishing Derby
at Gavel Pit Lakes, Maverick Campground, Cimarron Canyon State Parks

  • Registration begins at 10 AM
  • Fish till 1 PM.
  • No fee, but registration and waiver required to be signed by parent or guardian of children participating in the Fishing Derby.
  • Open for all children ages 11 and younger, who will receive: T-shirts compliments of Friends of Eagle Nest Lake and Cimarron Canyon State Parks.
  • Prizes for biggest fish caught in each age group.
  • Regular Park fees and NM Fishing Regulations apply.
  • Only residents and nonresidents age 11 and under may fish without a valid NM Fishing License.

Weds. May 17- Opening Day/ Angel Fire Resort Golf Course

 

The Angel Fire Resort Golf Course opens for the 2017 season! Tee off at 8,500 feet on our par 72, 6,653 yard, 18-hole golf course surrounded by the southern rocky mountains in Angel Fire, New Mexico. To book a tee time, please call 575-377-4488 or 844-218-4107.

 

 

Friday May 19-   Opening Day/ Angel Fire Bike Park

 

The downhill bike park season in the Rocky Mountains opens on May 19, 2017, as Angel Fire Bike Park turns on their lifts and opens up their trails. Our lifts start spinning at 9 a.m. with a ribbon cutting and an exclusive opening day Bike Park hat giveaway.

 

 

 

Friday May 19-  Run for the Wall

 

Please grab a flag and join us at 4:00 pm, May 19, as we cheer on hundreds of veterans on motorcyles as they come thundering out of the Taos Canyon on their way to the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C. They will pass under the blinking light, at the Angel Fire turn on Hwy 64, at approximately 4:15. They make a stop at the Angel Fire Vietnam Veterans Memorial before having dinner in Eagle Nest and staying the nigh

Book reading by BJ Prior, author of "Behind My Wings"

BJ Prior, a young stewardess during the Vietnam War, will be reading from her heart-wrenching book "Behind My Wings," at the Shuter Library of Angel Fire on Saturday, May 27th, from 3-5 PM. Come and pay homage to the courageous men and women from a critical time in our military history.

Saturday May 27- Pioneer Flyer

Opening Date/ Red River Ski & Summer Area

 

 

 

Introduced in the Spring of 2015, the Pioneer Flyer is a must for the itineraryStarting at ground level, the two seater ride pulls you backwards 750 feet over the Pioneer Corridor, with a brief pause for viewing. Then gravity takes over and you are released at approximately 35 miles per hour back down to the loading deck, soaring over the fishing ponds from The Face. The Flyer will be open for weekends only May 27th through June 9th. It will be open for daily operation from June 9th until September 3th. 

Monday- Friday 10:00am - 4:00pm, Saturday & Sunday 10:00am - 5:00pm  (Weather Permiting) 
Participants must be at least 42 inches tall to ride. Single cart maximum weight capacity is 250lbs. Double cart maximum weight capacity is 450lbs. 

Memorial Day Weekend kicks off summer at the Red River Ski & Summer Area.  The mountain should be cleared of snow and the grass should be green just in time to open Take a break from the Motorcycle Rally and enjoy a ride to the top of the mountain and lunch at the Tip Restaurant.  Play some disc golf while you are up at Summit Camp too!  Back down on Pioneer you can jump on the Pioneer Flyer and zip to the top of a 75 foot tower and enjoy the thrill of soaring over Pioneer Road and the pond to the Flyer House!  Red River Ski & Summer Area is fun for the whole family!  

 

Scenic Summer Chair Lift Rides, Pioneer Flyer, Mountain Top Disc Golf, and Dining at the Tip, will be open weekends starting May 27, 2017. (Weekends only until June 09, 2017 when we begin daily operation) 

 

 

 

Memorial Day Ceremonies

   Sunday May 28  Annual Foundation Board meeting held in the Memorial conference room starting at 4:00 PM

 

 

  Sunday May 28- Candlelight Vigil from 6:00pm-7:00pm.  This ceremony is set outside in the amphitheater of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial State Park to honor those men and women who gave thier lives in service to our country.

 

Monday May 29- Memorial Day Ceremonies 11:00am in the amphitheater. The keynote speaker is Ken Cordier, Col, USAF, Ret. Col Cordier was a POW in Hanoi for over six years.

 

Ongoing Activities:

Roadrunners Run/Walk Club- Every Thursday morning @ 7:30am, meet at Mountain Sports 3375 Mountain View Blvd. Angel Fire, NM The Road Runner Running Club is free and open to all ages and abilities. We have three levels: a walking group, a beginner running group, and an intermediate running group. The Club meets every Thursday throughout the summer and hosts Road Runner Charity Run each year.
