Cook-off Festival 2015 a tremendous success. We do apologize that we ran out of tamales by 1:30 pm, but we never imagined we would sell 1215 tamale tasting tickets by that time! Next year we promise to come prepared for a larger crowd! The response to this event has been incredible. We’ve had positive feedback from our cooks and vendors and have heard from people all over the state of New Mexico as well as several other states.
Thank you first to our tamale cook-off contestants: Kathy Serna/ H2 Uptown from Angel Fire, New Mexico, Annette Duran/ Rouge Traditional Tamales from Santa Fe, New Mexico, Wendy Hail/Hail’s Holy Smoked BarBQue and More from Angel Fire, New Mexico and Guillermo and Cecilia Solano/ Yaquis Hot Dogs & More from Belen, New Mexico. As the judges said, these were the best of the best and all of their tamales were delicious! Huge applauds and Congratulations to the winners: 1st Place for Traditional Tamales; Annette Duran/ Rogue Traditional Tamales of Santa Fe, New Mexico. 1st Place for Gourmet Tamales; Wende Hail/Hail’s Holy Smoked BarBQue and More, Angel Fire New Mexico for her Young Guns Green Chili Cheese Tamales. And People’s Choice Award also went to Wendy Hail/Hail’s Holy Smoked BarBQue and More for her Young Guns Green Chili Chicken Tamales.
Thank you again to all of these people who volunteered at the event.
