DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””]Save the Date – We’re bringing back the Shovel Races! Race down the slopes on a snow shovel in this exhilarating competition that’s perfect for speedshovel enthusiasts of all ages. Here’s everything you need to know so far—more information to be determined. \n  \nRules: \n\nAll shovels must be “grain” shovels. Competitors may bring their own shovels\, or Angel Fire Resort will provide shovels from sponsors Alpine Lumber and Bluebird Mountain Sports.\nCompetitors must wear a helmet and eye protection for all practice and competition runs.\nNo physical alterations are allowed to the running surface of the grain scoops (shovels) other than the application of wax or a similar type substance to the underside or bottom of the scoop. You may adhere tape or other similar materials to the handle of the shovel to make it easier to grip. You may paint the seat of the grain scoop\, but no traction-aiding substance is allowed.\nBarging the start gate constitutes a false start. First false start in a heat is a warning; second false start in a heat is a disqualification.\nIf a racer is not sitting on their shovel upon crossing the finish line\, that racer will receive a DNF (did not finish) for that run. Should a racer come off their shovel during a “Time Trial” or Little Scoops run\, they will receive a DNF for that run and will be required to immediately move laterally off the course. Should a racer come off of their shovel during a “Heat” run\, the racer can get back on their shovel and legally cross over the finish line to finish the heat.\nNo protests\nDuring Finals\, that run counts; we will not accept the qualifying time if that run is faster.\nYou must make a concerted effort to self-arrest after crossing the finish line\, or you will get a DQ\n\n  \nPhoto and content courtesy of the Angel Fire Resort\n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]

All participants must wear a life vest. No fishing from a pedal boat. Please let the lake attendant assist you in and out of the boat.  \nStand-Up Paddle Board Rentals\n\nThe minimum age to use a paddleboard is 12 years old.\nEach person on a paddleboard must wear a life vest\, leash\, and whistle at all times on the water.\nAll participants must have strong swimming ability.\nOnly stand on the paddleboard when it is in the water (standing on it on land can damage the fin)\nNo swimming in the lake. If you happen to fall into the lake\, you must immediately get back on your board.\nEntering and exiting the lake must be done in the designated area\, adjacent to Monte Verde Lake Office.\n\nBring Your Own Boat\nYou are welcome to bring your own non-motorized watercraft to Monte Verde Lake. We do not allow boats over 15 feet\, there is no charge for single-day use. \nIf you wish to store your boat\, a seasonal storage fee of $150 for limited lake shore storage (larger boats)\, with convenient kayak/SUP storage $75 per rack (multiple kayaks and SUPs fit) for Members in good standing only\, May 15 – October 31st annually. \nHere are a few things to keep in mind: \n\nPlease be sure to check in with the Lake Attendant when you arrive and sign the liability waiver.\nWe have extra life vests if anyone in your group needs one – children under the age of 12 must wear a life vest while on the water.\nLife vests\, whistles\, and leashes are required for Stand-Up Paddle Boards – please bring your own life vest or borrow one from us.\nPlease take a whistle with you out on the water so that you can notify others in case of an emergency.\n\nSAFETY\, POLICIES\, AND PROCEDURES\n\nNo Alcohol – alcoholic beverages are not permitted at Monte Verde Lake.\nNo Swimming – swimming is not permitted in the lake and there is no lifeguard. The water is extremely cold.\nDogs – must be on a leash when on the shore but they are allowed to swim in the lake and ride on boats without being on a leash.\nNo Wake Lake – boats with motors and devices like jet skis are not allowed. Trolling motors are permitted.\nFires – charcoal grills and campfires are not permitted at Monte Verde Lake.\n\nWeather\nLightning is common in Angel Fire\, especially during monsoon season. If you see lightning or hear thunder\, immediately return to the shore and seek shelter. Wind can also create a hazard out on the lake and anything more than a breeze can make boating very difficult and even dangerous. SUMMARY:Run For The Wall 2026
DESCRIPTION:[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text css=””] \nRun for the Wall passes by Angel Fire at approximately 4:15-4:30pm yearly. Residents and guests of Angel Fire are asked to gather at the “blinking light” on Hwy 64 and Hwy 434 at approximately 4:30pm to cheer them on. The passing motorcade normally consists of 385 to 500 veteran motorcyclists. They meet at the Vietnam Veterans Memorial after the drive-by. \nRun for the Wall is an organized cross-country motorcycle ride to honor our veterans\, their families and friends and to raise awareness of those still missing- Prisoners of War ( POW) and Missing in Action (MIA). The ride or run as many motorcyclists call it\, starts in Ontario\, California and ends 10 days later at the Vietnam Veteran’s Wall in our nations capital\, Washington D.C. We then have a 3 day “run” from D.C. to the Middle East Conflicts Wall in Marseilles\, Il. Wall to Wall. \n \n[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
